Dr. Sarah Mitchell grew up on a farm in rural Tennessee, surrounded by animals from the time she could walk. That early connection with creatures great and small set her on a path to veterinary medicine that she's never once questioned.
After earning her DVM from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009, Dr. Mitchell completed an internship in small animal internal medicine before joining DVM Center as an associate. In 2015, she became Medical Director — a role that lets her combine her passion for clinical care with building the kind of practice she always wished existed.
Her clinical interests include oncology, internal medicine, and senior pet care. She's a firm believer that early detection changes outcomes, which is why she's built a culture of thorough, proactive diagnostics at the clinic.
At home, Dr. Mitchell has two rescue cats named Biscotti and Fig, and a three-legged hound mix named Copper who she describes as "the clinic's unofficial mascot."
